4th & Dragon : Dungeons and Dragons...and stuff

Well, this is a product that would have been very useful when I was starting to play 3.5, but now I’ve got a good handle on the rules just doesn’t sound as useful.

Especially since when I do forget something, I can look it up pretty quickly in the online SRD.

Before going to the link, I assumed that this was only the two pages...with information similar to DM screens/other player aids. This document is indeed something I would have loved for my 3.5 game, but alas 4e is here now.

It’s basically applying 4e page design principles to the 3.5e rules.  Very useful (if you’re playing 3.5) but nothing ground breaking.

Thanks for the heads up, Jim, and feel free to ban these party poopers!  I just might buy this and print out copies for the whole group!  Um, that is what they intend when they sell pdfs, right? :(

Sadly, at this point I have annotated my 3E books and memorized the rules well enough that even as cool as this product is, it’s not something I’d actually need.

Call me when there’s a 4e version. I would totally pay 5$ for an extensive cheat sheet PDF. I don’t think I’ll pay 10$ for a hard copy (the DM Screen) with only a bit of info that will be seeing a ton of errata within the year.

I find it hilarious that my (and my groups) reasoning for why we love 4E so much are convered in two of the four listed. 

*Players searching through books at the height of your encounter, just to Demoralize an enemy?

*Spending 45 minutes running a 4 round combat encounter?

Still I agree it’s pretty cool and does what 4E does, streamlines the game.

Interesting.  I would have loved this when I was first playing 3e/3.5.  However, after a while I just mem’d the rules, or worse there page numbers.  If I find myself playing a 3.5 game again I would actually very strongly consider this as all my previously mem’d rules and page numbers are being replaced with 4e rules and page numbers.

Kinda same as everyone else, I know where to find all the rules at this point.  I do find it odd that people thing 4e doesn’t have the problem of finding relavent rules.  The only thing I have seen that helps this is power cards which can just as easily be implimented in 3.x (I have a couple players who do).

The pagination is better and the rules are better organized.  With the exception of a few notables (Superior weapons require the Weapon Training feat), everything is easier to find.  I really think that.  Now, if we’re talking SRD vs the books, there’s no question.  The SRD is organized to the teeth.  Rather than looking up any rule in the hardcover PHB for 3E (which I really only need to do to check on spells at this point), I’ll quick open the SRD and search that way.  So much faster and easier to find.
