Many of you are probably familiar with the web comic Ctrl+Alt+Del. One of it’s latest strips pretty much sums up my feelings about the 4E-haters out there (some of them even in my gaming group). If you’re one of those haters I certainly hope you can sit back and enjoy some good-natured ribbing. Otherwise an illithid might just be waiting around the corner.
That. Is. Awesome.
While that comic is amusing, I’m still not a big fan of Tim Buckley.
Why?
Its funny the DM is usiing a laptop...ddi isn’t running yet, is he checking his stocks? or using pirated PDF’s
Does 4E have dragons?
I’ve been so busy obsessing about barbarians, I haven’t noticed....
There are but now they are all accountants.
Dragons Rock. A Level 1 party can have a very cool fight against a large White Dragon… and survive if they play it well.
This cartoon, and the comments by that PvP guy, have been bothering me for a while time.
This cartoon is indicative of what I find disturbing not only about D&D, but about the entire science fiction/fantasy community. It started with the war between Star Wars and Star Trek fans, and now we have the 3E and 4E maniacs at each other’s throat.
One problem is the attitude that everything I says sucks sucks, and there is nothing to think about. “The new Y-Men movie sucks.” “No it doesn’t! It is awesome!” “No, it sucks.” “Jennifer Smith was Hot!” “Jennifer Smith sucks.” There is no intellectual content to the argument.
The other problem is the refusal to accept other points of view as valid. “There must be a dragon in every dungeon, or it is not Dungeons *and* Dragons.” (At least that is an argument that you can get an intellectual grip on, I guess..) “If you don’t like 4E then you are a ‘hater’ who won’t accept anything new.”
The D&D community is a very small one. It can’t afford to get splintered, or else nobody will produce those beautiful hard-bound books we all love so much.
I don’t see what’s so funny about this comic. I think it’s every bit as crappy as Tim Buckley usually produces.
I totally agree that Buckley comes off as an arrogant jerk. He nailed this one though.
Funny how arrogant jerks are only arrogant jerks until you agree with them.
Sorry this was not amusing to me. So the DM says that it’s stupid for a 1st level character to expect a dragon in the dungeon, but then to shut him up throws an Illithid after him.
Yeah, because that is more on par with a 1st level character.
yes I know he is doing it to be a total butt, it just doesn’t come off well to me.
Err, the DM isn’t being the butt. The player is. That’s the point. I think Buckley is an awful cartoonist, but I think his sentiment here is right on.
Hey! You said that nobody was going to put a gun to my head to make me play 4th Edition! I didn’t think you’d send an illithid to eat my brain instead!
"he” was referring to Bucky
Oh. That makes more sense.

Dungeon tiles are way better than the ol' wet erase mat. Just reuse these and if you players wonder why every dungeon looks the same, threaten TPK!
Dungeons of Dread Booster
Another oddity in Wizards release schedule: boosters for the 4th edition miniature game releasing before the starter set. But who needs the starter set since we're just going to use these for our D&D game!
Deluxe Dungeon Master’s Guide
DMG all dressed up in leather.
Adventurer’s Vault: A Guide to Weapons, Equipment, and Treasure for Your Character
224 pages of equipment and items of treasure. Did we mention that there's over two hundred pages? What's not to love?

Everything a diabolical DM needs to plan the perfect TPK with the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons.
Dungeon Master’s Screen
Now you can roll critical hits against your players from behind the privacy of your new DM screen.

These are premium dice. Not to be confused with deluxe, regular, or super awesome dice.
Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition For Dummies
Over 400 pages of DIY D&D for all the dummies out there!
Forgotten Realms Player’s Guide
Updated for 4th edition.
4th Edition Core Rulebook Gift Set
Why buy them separately when you can get all three core rulebooks in one package!
H3: Pyramid of Shadows
The third in a series of adventures for the 4th edition of D&D.
Character Record Sheets
You have to use some college ruled paper to record your hero as this doesn't release until the month following the release of the core rulebooks. Go figure.
