In this adventure, the party ventures back into the contaminated area of the Chaos Scar in search of one of the most desirable materials for those of your players who play ritual casters: residuum. Apparently some drakes have experienced an interesting mutation which causes their corpses to manifest residuum filled blisters. Tipped off by a local hunter, the party goes after the drakes to get their greedy little hands on the valuable stuff.
Of course, the magic of the meteorite that caused the Chaos Scar is bound to make things more complicated than that. Just as the party defeats the drakes and is about to reap their reward, a colony of giant ants, drawn by the same magic that changed the drakes, shows up to claim the bodies for themselves and the party is forced to defend what they’ve earned.
As with most Chaos Scar adventures, this one consists of just 3 encounters, all tactical, for a total of 2000 XP. For non-combat XP, there’s just the quest hook worth 200 XP (there are two quest hooks, each worth the same, but the adventure specifically advises halfing the XP rewards if using both). That makes for a very hack-n-slash adventure, but we’ve come to expect that from Chaos Scar adventures. They’re simply too short to incorporate much non-combat XP (though I’d welcome some adventure writer to prove me wrong).
