The last Know Your Role article was something of a disapointment, containing just some magic items and having been so ill prepared that it had to be pulled for a time to correct the flaws. Today’s however, is pleasantly surprising in that it’s actually seems to fulfill the billing the title “Know Your Role” gives the article.
Focused on the controller, the article starts by discussing what it means to be a controller and what you should be looking for in playing a wizard, druid, invoker, psion, or seeker (the five controller classes so far, though the last two aren’t technically fully released yet). Since “control” can take many forms in combat, this discussion is highly useful as it can help you find the niche you hope to fill while still staying diverse enough to contribute to any fight.
After that discussion, the article presents six feats targeted towards controllers (all have “controller role” as a prerequisite). Five of those feats are power swap feats that let you replace a utility power with the feat power. Five of the feats (not the same five) deal with improving area and close attack powers, the staple of a controller’s article. All are fairly useful, however, allowing the controller to adjust they way their powers work in important ways.
