4th & Dragon : Dungeons and Dragons...and stuff

I downloaded the Pathfinder alpha today and really liked the art.  I thought it was alot better than most of the art in the 4e books, mainly the PhB

I put 4e, but I have not seen all of the Pathfinder Art. I really like what I have seen, but some of the flavor changes seem a bit foreign to me. I still side with the 4e art. (willing to admit that there is some bad 4e art though, lol)

Talae, it isn’t really fair to give a vote until you look at the art from both.  How can you say which you like more if you haven’t seen both?

I said that I haven’t seen it all. I have seen a modest amount and enjoy it, but the flavor definitely gives me a foreign feel when laid next to 4e.

My wife and my buddy both hate most of the art in 4e.  I dislike most of it.  It has a squat feel to it and just is not what I expected.  I expected better art. 

Pathfinder has a very different feel, more of the Forgotten Realms/Eberron feel to me, but most of the character art is nicely done.

I put this poll up, because I had seen alot of people saying they loved the 4e art and imo i thought it was kinda crap.

Pathfinder’s classes seem a bit funny at first glance, but I do think I am going to give it a try one of these days.  I like the flavor of Sorceror and stuff, but this thread is mainly about the art.

4e just seems like it is populated by short wide people via the art.  There are some good pieces in the PHB, but I only like maybe 5 pieces.  The MM has some good pieces and some not so good, but that is how it always is.  The DMG isn’t too bad but there isn’t a ton of art in there.  I just miss some Todd Lockwood that is all.

I voted Pathfinder.  I’d like to hear from those who voted 4E.  I like the 4E rules, and the art is mostly pretty good, but I think the Pathfinder art is generally exceptional.

How can I see the result of the vote without voting?

I have seen parts of the 4E art here, but I haven’t looked at Pathfinder at all. I still would like to see the current standings without simply voting ‘something’.

I voted for Pathfinder because I am a huge fan of Wayne Reynolds.  If he had done all the art for 4e I’d be voting for 4e.  I love the covers he has done for the Pathfinder Adventure Paths.

Gotta say I’m not much of an artist fanboy for many artist by name.  I like Borris (of course), Melissa Benson, and Randy Asplund.  But now that I am seeing the Pathfinder art I may have to add Wayne’s name to that list.  It is very good and carries a lot of flavor.  I, also, am turned off by the wideness of character art in 4e.  I hate to make the same old comparisson but it seems like they are emulating the WoW art style as well.  It works for WoW but not for D&D.
