Holy Batcrap Robin!

Ha ha but joking aside, that is AWESOME!  I really like the tokens and the big scale map.  That has to be awesome to play D&D with ebertran.

I really like it, I think that is a bitchin’ setup grin

Very nice! i think i will do the same. At work i have access to a very large printer i could almost print out the whole thing one shot hehe

But i liek the idea of mking it on section(room) that you can assemble like a big puzzle smile

As a DM, I feel players respond better to these types of things… it’s just not always feasible to get stuf like this done, but when I have time, I like doing it, it’s relaxing smile

Sometimes though… a scrible on an easel pad is gonna have to do....

Looking good, ebertran! I think this is also the first time I’ve seen your actual tokens in action and you’re right. For being photopaper, glue, and a washer they’re amazing.

Yea, I definitely think that this is such a good way to make everyone feel really involved grin

And I like the assembling this like a puzzle, that way you can stack the pieces up and they are smaller for storage, and if you have similar settings then you can use pieces together from other dungeons if you want to.  Very useful and can be used more than once even grin

I was thinking of laminating the different pieces to reuse them later on… i have a jail cell there… a torture chamber… storage rooms… why not?

and they are easy to store in pieces…

Yep, definitely.  If your going to take the time to make them you might as well use them more than once grin

[EDIT] So looking at the counters on the bottom of the forum home menu, this is definitely the 15,000th post on the forums.  I must say it is an honor grin And to think I have contributed to nearly 1% of that rasberry

As far as making them reusable, you might think about going with empty (or mostly empty) rooms and having the furniture/rugs/torture devices/storage/etc on separate pieces. This would lead to more customization between dungeons while still using the same pieces.

I was able to photoshop out the DM marking’s on the map… (secret doors, enemy positions) so I guess lifting furniture and stuff like that shouldn’t be too hard....

Yep, definitely a good alternative to Dungeon Tiles and Miniatures.  Cheaper (always a biggie) and more customizable.  And aside from actually having to do it yourself (which is like a bonus to me, I love projects like this) there really aren’t any cons. Maybe not quite as high quality, but it is not like this is flimsy stuff, it should be able to stand up to some wear and tear.  Especially once laminated, you can even use markers on it then!

The counters are way more durable than the minis, hands down.  Plus, I still think using minis at the table, once you get past the “looks cool” factor, is a little inconvenient.

When you got 10 monsters, keeping track of kobold slinger 1, 2, 3, and 4 is standing over here, can get real tedious, along with conditions, it aint easy.  Numbers on tokens with the name printed on it is way simpler… I dont do it for the PC’s because it’s only 5 guys…

And for the maps, if I were to laminate the card stock I print on, and stick it on foam backing board, and cut around the edge, it’s just as durable as dungeon tiles…

Yea, your definitely right about that.  I didn’t know what you were printing on but laminated cardstock is definitely going to hold up for quite some time.  And like posted earlier, with the washers you can use colored magnets to show status effects on your monsters and characters.  And even more convenient is storage. You can stack a large number of washers in a pretty small area, and don’t really have to worry too much about them getting all crushed together or mixed up.  I don’t know how sturdy the minis are personally but I doubt it is as much as a metal washer.

Magnets…

What’s that gaming website that sells those expensive magnets...?

They’re actually a bit cheaper than the ones you listed. 10 magnets for $7 vs 3 for $3.50 or 6 for $7.
