I just got it in the mail (yay preorders) and I have to admit I already found something I don’t like.

Double flails are back. I still don’t understand how anyone could wield one of those without killing themselves.

LOL.

If that’s the worst thing that can be found, Adventure’s Vault is gonna be one sweet suppliment.

Amazon emailed me at 3am yesterday saying it’s been shipped. Here’s hoping it’s waiting for me when I get home.

To be fair, I’m only on page 19 and looking at the vehicles. The Apparatus of Kwalish is back (whee) and it looks like we have large ornithopters to go with our gargantuan airship now.

Ornithopters always make me think goblins for some reason.

They always make me think of Pebbles (the Magic combo deck).

Well, I got my Adventurer’s Vault as well. I am starting to flip through it now. When you had said Double Flail, I envisioned two chains on one end, not one on either end:

Oh yea, I completely forgot that came out yesterday.  I need to go pick up a copy.  How is it so far?

Any first impressions? Or more if you have read farther

Armor of Exploits seems nice at level 3. Basically, it’s 4e’s version of spell storing. You get to put an at-will or encounter power in someone else’s or your own Armor of Exploits. The power then can be used in combat as a standard action (costing an action point if an encounter power).

Of all the medieval festivals I’ve gone to and I have only seen one person ever use the double flail. I tried using one at a festival one time and if you don’t know how to use it, it can injure you.

Can or Will?

I thought the evil fail was the Dire fail one with both ends. Or did they call the dire fail the one with two heads.  Man i can’t remember anymore.

There is no Dire Flail. There are three new flails:
Scourge +2 d8 off-hand (military one-handed)
Triple-Headed Flail +3 d10 versatile (superior one-handed)
Double Flail +2 d10/d10 defensive/off-hand (superior double weapon)

And because I thought it was funny:

I didn’t mean in this edition. I meant in the old one there was a Flail and a Dire Flail.  The Dire Flail was the chain on both ends.  There was a double flail i thought in one of the books, though I think it might have been a 3.0 book with the double flail.

See I was asking what they were calling the Stick with a Chain on both ends this edition because the Old one(3.5 was called Dire).  Hence my confusion when now it is called as the Double Fail which makes me think of a Flail with two chains on 1 end similiar to the Threeheaded flail and the Scourge(the scourge can have alot of heads being metal tied to lengths of leather). 

btw: i did look it up before this post which is how i am able to answer my own question.  Why can’t they just kepe the same name for the same weapon each time.

Sometimes I think they just change things for the sake of changing them.

BTW, the mounts are interesting as well. We get stats for quite a few, including the Skeletal Horse and Giant Riding Lizards.

Darn you guys, I am going to have to go check out the book for sure now.

I am willing to answer any questions you have…
