It is the 29th of Tarsakh in the year 1385 DR, blue flames are erupting in the sky all over the heavens and all who had the touch of Magic hear a scream of unlife as Mystra is taken from the world.

I want to know what you were like before this cataclysmic event.  Where you lived, how you lived, what you did, who you knew.  Due to the events of the Spellplauge that are now just taking effect you could have been a level 20 wizard with all the powers in the world, or a lonely level 1 rouge living in the slums of Skyclave, now everyone is on the same level.

When creating a character, as I have said a few times now, I want story to be the most important part, but that dosn’t mean you can’t have fun with the class system and old magic system.  You may have once been a high wizard, now in your insanity and need you consulted a demon to give you strength you never had when you were a mage.  All of this is up to you, so let your imagination run with it.

In character creation think of where you came from and where you were at the time of the Spellplague.  This thread is meant for you to find others you may have started journeying with so ask around and see if you can web back stories together.  Also if you have a group you are happy with tell me, we can set up your own thread and get you one step closer to playing.

Just so you know I have never really played a Forgotten Realms campaign. If your a die hard fan and you have a great idea just walk me through it and tell me how it works in with the new setting, because I wont see it on my own.  When picking from where you came from use the FR players guide and give yourself the bonus Regional Benefit.  This doesn’t mean you were in your own nation when the spellplauge hit, just that you are from there.

Last thing, you’ll be using 22 point bye and you start at level 1.  All books, dragon and dungoin can be used, just give me good sitatoin so I know were to look to read about it.  Also as of right now no house rules, however if you wish to play a druid or other class we can work on changing those.  Post stats wherever you want, but I want secrecy to be just an other part of the game, so don’t think you have to tell the truth to anyone other then me.  The people you travail with in the beginning of the game may just turn out to be enemies later down the road, and you don’t want them to know to much about you.  That said, you can just send me your stats through private messages or through email. Those you journey with to begin with need to only know what you look like and what you are waring.

Hopefully reading this made you excited about playing, any questions just post here or send me a message.

Yeah, I’m gonna make a character up.
I’m thinking watersoul gensai.

Pay 0: Sacrifice Devastator, search your library for a card named Doombot. Put Doombot into play. You win the game.

Stupid question, but I assume the FR players guide will be required? I’m interested, but not sure how much use I would get from that book outside of this game.

I am thinking I am finally going to get to use my Dragonborn Ranger, upgraded with the new AV stuff.  I completely forgot about the FR Player’s Guide, so I guess I should pick that up today at some point.  So then I can use it to help me out building a sweet character.

I know I’m replying twice to your post, but I just want to make sure you get a response, also it will be good to have this answer here.

You do not need the FR books to play, they would help, but I’m sure you could get bye without them.  Try to find what info you can using the net and ask me if you need any more help, I have no problem helping with back stories.  Also I can just tell you what your national bonus will be.

Just picked up my Player’s Guide (cause I was too excited to remember it yesterday) and I would be happy to help people out by posting information they need from either FR book if andrewk was too busy at some point.

Well, I guess just a quick rundown of other race and class options, and I’ll see if anything sounds cool.

And whatever the regional skills are.

Everything is core now, so the everything in PHB is in FR.  Genasi and Drow are the “new” races but really just Genasi since Drow are in the MM.  They have 1 new class and 1 new warloc path; Swordmage and Dark Pact Warloc.

FR Preview Material the link is under the heading Check out the Forgotten Realms preview material.  This little zip download has the first three levels of Swordmage, Genasi and Drow Explained.

Compendium: click on that link to take you to the dndi compendium which is a searchable database of all the character information for dnd 4e up to now.  You can search for Genasi or Drow and get the stats.  Swordmage should also be in there as well as Dark pact warloc.  These will take you up to level 30.

I am sure the forgotten realms feats are in there but you will probably have to do a little searchfu to find them all.  Could be as easy as searching for Forgotten Realms Feats or Regional Feats.

swordmage is a defender that is similiar to a swashbuckler and has a few magical abilities and such.

the compendium is free till Oct 1st at the earliest and then it will cost as low as 4.95/month to access it with the magizines and bonus tools.

Well andrew, looks like now is the time to make a characters thread!

Pay 0: Sacrifice Devastator, search your library for a card named Doombot. Put Doombot into play. You win the game.

Yep, Frost got pretty much everything grin

Plenty of new Paragon Paths too, but you won’t have to worry about those quite yet.  The compendium should give you stats for everything, and I’ll be happy to post any lists of skills or stats you need when that becomes unavailable

Went ahead and ordered FR PHB and AV. Unless something really catches my eye in them, I’ll probably stick with the halfling rogue I was gonna do in Roth’s pbp. Just with fancier equipment options.

^Sounds like a good plan to me grin

But question, how are we doing magic items, money, etc?  Since we are starting at level 1 do we just get the 100 gp that is standard or are we going to do something else?  Just curious before I start looking up stuff I can’t even buy grin

100 gp as level 1 starting gold.  If your character has a wish list though you are welcome to give it to me and I’ll see what I can do.
