So Andrewk, people must be getting close to figuring out their starts now (I just sent Ear a msg tonight and Frost and DarkLink are working on it) so what should we do when we have an idea?

So we need to wait for more people to get started or just go ahead and send stuff to you so we go on our own?

Awesome, it looks like the game is going to be going off soon.  I am going to be out of town for most of Saturday and Sunday, but when I come back I will have a few cities that have things of interest going on in them.

So I think I am going to start the game once I have around 4 or so groups, so please find other groups (solo is fine as well) and message me that you are ready to go.  So far I only have a few characters actually submitted to me.

Talk to you guys soon.

I think tomorrow we will see some starting Zones of Interest.

Also he said you can email the character sheets. I think we should all do the little basic post he has that he wants attached and then post it in the character thread.  This way you can post what you want to be.  It doesn’t have to show us anything you don’t want, but it will allow us to have something to reference as who is playing what.

I haven’t stated out my character sheet yet, but that takes about 10 minutes to make a lvl 1 especially since I have everything in my head already anyway.

If you are starting by yourself I am sure once he makes the IC thread then you can start it up.

Man I am going to be a pbp machine soon. One i run, three I play in on this site.  I am glad to see alot of pbps starting up here again.

Hey guys, just to answer some questions so far:

If you have a character ready and done send it to me, so far I only have two, so it doesn’t seem that we are ready to go just yet.  When your character is done please send it right away.  I would prefer to have the roleplaying stuff filled out first (the plot idea, starting area, stuff like that) just so I can start writing something up for you, the crunch isn’t as important and can follow later.

IC threads will be up soon, the thing is is that I can only have IC threads ready for players who have sent all their stuff in.  There’s no rush as I would like a few more people to join before we start up though, so don’t worry about getting ready to quickly.  I see this starting, at the very latest, the 20th or so of October.

Now for places of interest:

Baulders Gate:  Greengrass is being celebrated excitedly all though-out the large city.  The city has been celebrating for almost four days now, and it dose not look like it will subside anytime soon.  People have come from all over to take in the festivities.

Suzail:  With a new king just crowned, King Foril the fifth is starting to impose laws that will ever change the course of the kingdom.  Some wish to take the throne for themselves, other care to protect the king, thinking he is going to bring a great change to the world.

Chessenta plains:  In the south land of Chessenta Thay’s solders meet against Cheessenta’s army.

Chult:  An expedition to Chult was sent out seven months ago and now the group is ready to come back home.  The group has with them an artifact, known as the Power of Lorovess, yet non of the group knows what it dose, only to bring it back to Baulders Gate quickly.

Hope that helps people.

I’m interested in joining if there’s still room...i’d like to play a Warlock (Fey Pact)from the Dalelands, by the name of Kordo Verlian who was a former wizard who lost his powers and chose to cocnclude a Fey pact in order to retain/gain back some form of magical power. I’d thought of making him human, having regained his youth and back at 1st level though some Fey magic, but if you don’t like that i think i’d make him half-elven or something.

Anyway, let me know if this sounds interesting and would work in your game…

So I have no idea if this would be good or not, but what if I did real time for the game, that way I could make sure all of you act together.

I was thinking about it and the whole point of this game is that I want you to interact with others in a roleplaying environment and to do that is to have you all in a city together and not have one person who has traveled for two weeks and in a city all of a sudden have time jumped.

Now the problems, and I kind of just stated one are:

Travailing can be boring due to the fact that if you travel for a few weeks you will not interact with anything.  However, combat seems to run a bit slower in PbP so that lets us do a full combat and not worry about getting it done do quickly.

Also if I or someone you wish to talk to that day is not available then that can also be a problem.  We can try to play retroactive days, but that could cause problems.

Good things to come out of this:
More roleplaying could come out of this with players actually interacting with day by day events and having time lines and such.

Also I can do a paper for each week and it wont be hard, and other things like that.  Large scale posts that effect everyone.

Well tell me what you think.

Thanks a lot.

Taken into consideration.

Travailing can be boring due to the fact that if you travel for a few weeks you will not interact with anything.  However, combat seems to run a bit slower in PbP so that lets us do a full combat and not worry about getting it done do quickly.

I think the easiest way to do this is to have you keep a tracking sheet of the time everyone has spent doing something, and culminate it at the end of a week in a sort of weekly summary of events thus far. Another option for a party that is traveling is to have their characters interact on a more personal level than they might at a game table where everyone is there to have time move forward. What I mean by this is, idle campfire chatter that is only a time waster at a game table might become an effective tool to alleviate boredom for traveling players or parties.

Players can:

- Learn more about the people they travel with.
- Discuss plans for the future.
- Play out little nuances that may not appear in a table top game to keep them coming back. Simple events that wouldn’t require the participation of all the players or something that avoids long to resolve situations like combat.

In general I think it would help bring the characters and their stories to life.

Also if I or someone you wish to talk to that day is not available then that can also be a problem.  We can try to play retroactive days, but that could cause problems.

This one is hard to resolve. I suggest a flashback format where the players involved play out the scene and fashion it as a memory. The only time this might not work is if it’s something that affects events for the whole party, although it would work for conversations that are merely fluff and character building.

Good things to come out of this:
More roleplaying could come out of this with players actually interacting with day by day events and having time lines and such.

Also I can do a paper for each week and it wont be hard, and other things like that.  Large scale posts that effect everyone.

We think an awful lot alike. When I went on my tangents above I completely forgot this part of your post rasberry

Well tell me what you think.

Done.

Thanks a lot.

No worries, I can’t wait to get this started.

< Is also excited for this!  Already into the character (re-)building phase and I should be getting a PM from Ear sometime soon.  I figure that our little group (Me, Ear, Michael Ingram, and maybe someone else?) Can be ready by the end of this week or possibly by the start of next week if we all crack down and work out a few details on this jank.  *hint*hint* grin

But I should have my character built by late tonight.  Dang tests and such getting in the way ya know.  Oh well, school calls so off to do that for a little bit more.

Will get PM out tonight. Been getting crushed at work this week, so mid day updates just haven’t happened.

Ok guys, I know those of you who have sent me your stuff and are ready want to play, so I will try to hurry those who have yet to finish and we can get going soon.

We will be playing on the 29th of October as our first day, and I will be doing everything real time.  Don’t worry about exact time (you don’t have to post at 6pm just to do something at 6pm in game) but try to keep it in mind when posting.

So for those of you I don’t have character sheets from will be out of luck to start on the first day if I don’t have everything, and those of you who are already ready I am sorry you have to wait much longer.

I hit a snag. Been a little swamped in the School department, and with barbarian coming out I am itching to test one out.

So question could I make a barbarian?

Ok, well then October 29 it is grin and I like the real time thing, seems like the best way to keep up with so many people.  Combat will take a week or two though cheese

Go ahead.

As for the combat thing I have a few ideas of how I’m going to run it.  Two things about it which is nice, is that the groups are small, which means less monsters, so as long as people update offten enough combat shouldn’t be that bad.  And if I need to speed it up we could just pick a time to finish it.
