For a game I plan to run soon, I need a shopping mall for the PCs to fight monsters in.  Anybody know of a good place where I can get a map for one, either real or fictional?

maps of my local mall.  just scale them to an appropriate size.  If you have a specific mall in mind look it up on the web, a lot of malls post their maps online.

Here’s the mall that’s half-way between local and not-local for me: http://www.cherryhillmall.com/directory/main_level

My old local mall (considerably smaller, unilevel): http://www.moorestown-mall.com/directory/main_level

And what is currently my local mall (also kinda small, but two levels): http://www.voorheestowncenter.com/directory/main_level

And the mall that I hate beyond all reason because it doesn’t have a book store in it: http://www.shopatburlington.com/maps.php

Big-ish mall north of Baltimore (multiple levels): http://www.towsontowncenter.com/html/storedirectory.asp

You can’t do much better than the largest mall in North America. Perfect to fill with monsters: it already has a dragon!

More managable would be my prefered mall.

Unfortunately most mall maps are just directories, not accurate blueprints. Hence, they don’t have a scale, and don’t cover the complex tunnels that tend to run under and through them. If you find a map that good, you should almost certainly go with it. Nevertheless, most people don’t have a good sense of scale and haven’t seen too many mall tunnels, so you could probably get away with anything; pick a corridor width anywhere from twenty to fifty feet, and sketch some plausible “secret passages” between stores. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone you cheated. wink

I know it’s been a while now, but I am really surprised nobody said anything about the WorldWorks Games mall.

Utgardloki, how did things end up working out?

With all the things going on, I haven’t actually run the game yet.  But it is still in my plans.

I tried buying the Zombies mall expansion pack to make a mall, but the tiles don’t really make a very realistic mall.  It did give me an idea to make part of the Virbona Bay mall a set of underground tunnels, where the monsters can come from.

Instead of doing a Halloween game, I’ll probably end up doing more a “Holiday Season” game.

I’ve decided to go with building a mall from the Zombies 3 expansion pack.  It will look like a strange mall, but I can work with that, and come up with a back story for why it is so strange.

The Virbona Bay Mall

When Ron Watts sold his land to developer Robert Willcox in 1964, one of his stipulations was that no shopping mall be built on this land.  So, Robert Willcox burrowed under the hills and build his shopping mall under the land.

So you are all in the Virbona Hills Shopping Mall, working on your Christmas Shopping.  You all happen to be in the food court, when....

Glad to hear things are moving forward. I have always been intrigued by the idea of running or playing in a Zombie game (the other one that sounds interesting is a Supers game). Wish I had the time and the people to play with.

Now I need some ideas for what PCs can do in a shopping mall that would be interesting.

First off, lets see some pics of the build. Second, is this set in present day? I’ll assume so until told otherwise. Here are a few ideas:
Initial sticker shock of getting free stuff
Hoard supplies an begin some kind of economy system
Have zombies come in from the roof (doesn’t seem to happen enough in movies)
PCs can board up certain stores and expand into which each community uses for housing
Google search gave me this: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Mall+Survival?t=anon

That’s it for midnight ideas from me...off to bed.

I’m not doing a Zombies game.  I am just using the Zombies 3 expansion pack to build a mall.

My plan was that somebody was doing foul rituals to open a gateway to Infernia in an abandoned fast food place.  With the economy the way it is (the game is set in 2008) there are plenty of abandoned shops, and a homeless ex-executive has secretly been doing foul rituals in one of them.

Idea:  his rituals summon monsters that chase the patrons out of the mall, including the PCs.  Not everybody excapes, and the PCs have to return to try to rescue those who didn’t get out (once they fight their way out the first time).

Basically it becomes like a Mall Dungeon then.

A Mall Dungeon.  Very cool.  I played in a game something like that several years ago using X-Crawl as the base campaign setting.
