My quetsion is can i slide an enemy up and down?

For Exemple you cast diabolic grasp on an enemy and you have 16 int so you can slide him 4 squares, can you slide him up 4 square to make him fall, or up a ledge or down a ravine?

Edit: It could also apply to a teleport.

No vertical travel with sliding. You could slide the person off a cliff/edge/etc. but they get a save and if they make it then they stay in the last viable square prone.

I am unsure of teleport, but I believe you have to teleport to a location that can support you. If this is not the case, then teleport would work, although most likely with a similar save since 4e doesn’t like to throw you off a cliff with no chance of stopping it.

I also have another question related to that, last sunday in my game my swordmage was riding a giant eagle and we raid a Goblin camp, could i use my lightning lure to grab one, pull it to me(i was 15 feet above the camp, so about 3 square) and since its a pull not a grab he would fall down after it? I didnt do it we rather threw a bunch of flask of oil with a flamming cloth on them but i was wondering with my DM if it could be something i could have done.

Edit: my question about teleport is mainly related to the Be gone power of the swordmage you hit the target and it get teleported for 5 square where you want(i was thinking maybe i could send a roper in the chasm in our PbP game with Rothe wink).

I would let you pull someone in vertically.

from pull push slide, p. 286:

Clear Path: Forced movement can’t move a target
into a space it couldn’t enter by walking. The target
can’t be forced into an obstacle or made to squeeze
into a space.

most creatures can not ‘walk’ 15 feet vertically…

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

I forgot about this thread. I looked up the rule and then got side tracked with other rules in the book. Before I knew it, I was off looking at feats and powers.

sirtayls, is indeed correct.

FORCED MOVEMENT
✦ Distance in Squares: The power you’re using specifies
how many squares you can move a target. You
can choose to move the target fewer squares or not
to move it at all. You can’t move the target vertically.

from pg 285 under forced movement under pull push and slide.
