I want to build a casino in 4e.

I’ve been thinking about it and I’ve devised a few games that we can represent with dice rolls and few that i’m going to use cards for…

Roulette:
the players bet money like on a standard roulette game (red/black, numbers 1-10, numbers 11-20, or on a specific number) I roll the d20 and they get paid out.

Blackjack:
I’m gonna deal the cards out for this one and just play a hand or two as with me being “the house” standard rules.

I was also thinking craps… cause it’s easy and makes sense…

finally I wanted to do poker but I couldn’t think of how to run it.
playing it straight up is too out of control for my liking.

rolling results seems way too involved…

Any ideas?

There are poker dice, if you want to spend some money (not much at Target where I saw them).

Also, I collected a bunch of dice games that Wizards published and put them into one big word file which I used in my home face to face games.  I’ve attached that here.

Poker is a skill game with lots of randomness thrown in. It should be a something like a random roll with a +1-+2 for the more skilled player (representing the edge that you get from skill). The skilled player wins in the long run, but random chance can do a lot in short time.

Perhaps it should be just a d20 roll for each player, highest roll takes the other players’ wagers. You get +2 if you have the most skill in the table and +1 if you are second best. -1 for the worst players in a big table (8+ players). You would then define the “skill” by adding intelligence bonus, bluff and insight together. Int is just pure math, insight is reading others and bluff is bluffing/pokerface.
You just have to decide how many hands one roll represents. It could be just a night of poker (all hands with one roll) or once per hour or whatever suits best. You’d have to define the total bets that are needed for each duration to play.
