WotC Shut Down by Hasbro?

Now, this seems to be complete rumor with no evidence, possibly brought on by the recent demise of WizKids.

I bring this up more as a thought exercise, could Wizards be shut down or enveloped under the larger Hasbro umbrella?

It could very well be true, and if it is it is probably due to the current economic climate.  By doing so they could cut a lot of overhead.  I am not sure how it would impact the quality of products, it is just to hard to guess at that.

Unnamed source randomly appearing on the internet? First flag.

The shut-down coming months after the release of a new set of core books which on one hand could have former fans eager to see the company “punished” and on the other just infused Wizards with a nice chunk of cash? Second flag.

The historical resilience of hobbies and entertainment to economic downturns? Time to chuck this one.

This thread seems to deserve some lockage due to the circular scheme that seems to be present.
