I love WoW’s cartoony art direction, then again when Wind Waker came out I wasn’t one of the people crying about it being cell shaded either.

Is thread necromancy a sin?

I am still enjoying the hell out of WoW. I play with my wife almost exclusively, and we are working on our third set of 70s at the moment. We play on Kirin Tor, Alliance-side (RP server, bite me). Look up Windley or Samaril if you ever roll a toon there.

LotR looks like a fun game. A guy I know at work really enjoyed it, although he is pretty goal-oriented when he plays games and apparently ran out of things to do at some point. Still, I’d like to check it out, especially since I have a gaming rig that could handle it now.

I would rather see some necromancy than hundreds of repeat threads about the same thing smile. Still playing strong here, if you ever decide to try it out Megan and I play on Elendilmir, we are usually on as Megaria and Edhelion.

Hm… now, quite a few people here who seem very reasonable to me are playing WoW. I’ve never played it (only watched a friend play it for a while) and am not planning to, ever.

What I would like to know is how much time you spend on this game? Doesn’t it ‘eat up’ most of your spare time? Is it really worth it?

Seriously, I’ve got the feeling that WoW is quite alright if you find the right measure of playing time. It’s a game that I would probably get addicted to pretty quickly - and I would soon play much more than I should, neglecting RL stuff. How does it work out for you?

It’s a fun game. I can’t really speak about its time-sucking factor because it’s just never been an option for me to sit down all night/weekend and play. I do some (very light) raiding and a lot of 5-man content. I hear that vanilla WoW (before the expansion) had really long 5-man instances, but most of the ones in Burning Crusade can be completed with a competent group in an hour, two tops.

I can see how if you had a flexible schedule and little willpower, WoW could be too addictive, but I’m not really in that position. I spend more time mowing my yard and painting rooms than playing.

5 Man dungeons before BC were things like Dire Maul and Scholomance. Stratholme was actually a 10 man dungeon, believe it or not.

I raid, it’s a lot of fun. Currently working on downing Vashj in SSC. We’ve fully cleared TK and SSC not counting her and Kael’thas.

Trying Eve, but it seems very complex economically but i am not afraid of a good learning curve.

You end up sticking around in Eve?

Actually Eardianm, my buddy didn’t like it and so I eventually went back to wow.  I used to play as I previously stated on Eredar realm, but that has recently changed to Kilrogg.

I like LoTR but none of my friends switched.  They all stayed on WoW and so I came back.  Started raiding again and tonight we are going into TK for the first time in my new guild with my newer 70.  2 70’s 63 and a couple 30’s all horde side Kilrogg.

Now that dnd 4e is out I can officially start work on my campaign.  Thinking about converting Kalamar to 4e.  So wow is taking a little bit of a back seat to dnd but i still raid two to three nights a week.

I still don’t like the grind, but until Star trek Online gets over this hump it has. I will still be playing it.  Only reason I am switching to try Star trek out is my best friend made me promise to switch to it at least for a month to play with him.

I’ve been clean from WoW for about 3 weeks. I still think the core of the game is nicely done. I enjoy Blizzard’s art style, I love the way characters are set up (the talent trees, the gear methods, etc) but I just don’t like the end game. I’m one of those weird people who didn’t enjoy just dicking around casually after I hit 70. If I wasn’t pushing myself to improve and see new content, it wasn’t fun to me. I joined some like minded individuals and did server firsts and all that crap. It just got really repetitive at the end and I couldn’t bring myself to keep logging on in the evenings to finish off the last two bosses in the (current, pre-Wrath of the Lich King) game. Plus 4e came out, so woo!

Not that it matters, Blizzard still owns my soul thanks to the upcoming StarCraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Stratholme was actually a 10 man dungeon, believe it or not.

Upper/Lower Blackrock Spire was a 10 man (well, Lower was tuned for 5, but could be done with 10). After Blizzard eventually patched in caps to how many people could be in dungeons, Strath (like Scholo) were 5 mans. That said, I remember zerging Scholomance with ~17 people and still managing to wipe. Ah, the good ol’ days of Magister’s gear!
