Just curious if anyone has done, or dose this on a constant bases. I wouldn’t mind having some Metaphors in my games but I just can’t think of how I would go about it.
Some tips or ideas would be great, thanks.

What do you mean?  Do you mean the literary definition of metaphor?  As in - the moon is a pizza pie…

Or, what?

Using metaphors as descriptors is second nature to me, so if that’s what you mean, I’m sure I could help.  Otherwise, I have no idea what you mean.

I’ve used metaphor in stories I’ve written, but to do that you normally are telling a story 3ed person, or so and you don’t have to worry about spot checks.
I was thinking maybe like the Lord Of Blades means something more then just a juggernaut of death, if you could drive a metaphor out of it.  As well as other ideas in the DnD world.

Ya I’m pretty broad, any help would be great.

Ya, a little vague.
But dont worry, there are plenty of both kinds of methaphors.
So just be a little less vague.
And its easy to work almost anything into a campaign.

One good thing is try using the languages to your advantages.
Draconic has a pretty good word list.

But anything works.
How ever you want to do it is fine tho. If i think of one later Ill repost.

I’m guessing you mean something along the lines of a metaphor for the whole champaign, the sort of thing that’s always kind of in the background and provides an foundation for everything else to build on?

That we be a combination of symbolism, motif, and/or tone.

Prepare the EVA units for intercept…
and somebody get me some more Vicodin.

To add to what Nem z said, you mean something like how LotR is an allegory for Catholicism/The Bible (despite Tolkien’s original claims that this was not so)?

"you mean something like how LotR is an allegory for Catholicism/The Bible”

wtf…

you made me wiki this.

I use the elements of storytelling to create a mood for buy in from the players but I don’t go all out metaphor unless I am describing something in the fight and and I grab at a clicheish moment.

Historical side note: Well I know that Solomon was supposedly to have created a ring to rule the demons, and it drove him insane, but thats not in the bible. bleh bleh bleh, history channel stays on all night in my room sorry if thats random. I woke up with some weird guy saying. “One ring to rule them all… “ And i checked the schedule and it was over lost books and i doze back off.

But regardless.

But I mean, id sit down and for the villains of my campaigns, come up with different stories and different names.
And have all the people tell all the horrible stories to the PC’s and freak them out with about 20 villians.

But other than that. I dont understand what kinda metaphor for the names you are looking for.

Yeah, I also don’t understand what you mean. I’m not sure “metaphor” is the word you’re looking for. “Symbolism”, or possibly “Theme”?

"So are you trying to convince me that you’re not a pervert?”
“What?! Hell no! Of course I’m a pervert!”

well, for one the lord of blades does have a lot of symbolism, in a profoundly mary shelly way.

and making the villans symbolic of things is a really good idea, i have tried doing it on several occasions. you just have to make sure that the players connect with the symbolism on some level.

This morning I thought about basing an entire adventure on my experience with 4E.  The plot is that somebody stole the Barbarian Class and the barbarians need the PCs help to get it back.

Never let an evil wizard get the initiative.

Mr. Utgardloki, I like your style.

Why suffer from insanity when you could enjoy every minute of it?
