My DM has a problem…

Hello everyone!
Tody my DM and I (yes, there are only two of us in our gaming group) started our new 4th Edition campaign, using the RPG stats from Dungeons of Dread. About 5 minutes into the campaign, however, a problem my DM has always had resurfaced: My Dungeon Master cannot create small battles. Almost as soon as the campaign got off the ground, I was thrown into diplomacy, battles and a war the size of the siege on Minas Tirith! The same sort of thing happened in our last campaign too, which ended because one player would never turn up and my DM decided to destroy the world because he’d stuffed up the campaign. This might not be a problem if it wasn’t for the fact that my DM often plays out his battles, rolling dice in a frenzy for NPCs as I just sit there watching him fight himself.
I believe that this unfortunate trait is a result of the fact the my DM, as well as playing D&D, is also a Warhammer buff. He also refuses to play D&D Minis for large battles.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix the tedium caused by this situation?

Why don’t you try dm’ing for a while? Do some small battles and stuff and show him how you like to play, maybe he’ll learn a thing or two about pacing.

Shhh...my common sense is tingling.

You need to record that scene and post it.  A DM that battles NPC’s against each other with little thought for the player is hilarious.

Get him to watch James Bond.  Huge world shaking impact but small battles.

Here’s the right way to do a large scale battle with the PC’s involved.
Ignore everyone but the PC’s and who they are directly fighting at the moment. If the PC’s aren’t involved in the fight there is no reason to roll any dice simply decide the outcome.

So give out these idea’s to your DM.

I keep intending to start planing ahead but I keep putting it off.
