"DRAGON!!!” Riardon shouts as he flees. “Know this, and know it well. I was unprepared for one as such as you and it showed. My companions were looking for KOBOLDS, not DRAGONS. You are still YOUNG for your RACE. Like MYSELF, you have many DECADES and even CENTURIES to look forward to. IF you are not KILLED. I was hired to STOP the RAIDING on the surrounding VILLAGES. If you continue to have your SERVANTS raid these villages, I WILL BE BACK and I will be PREPARED FOR YOU. I will KEEP COMING until you are DEAD. Although you are STRONG and POWERFUL, even YOU can DIE.”

“Your words are pretty,” the dragon bellows after the fleeing adventurers, specifically Riardon, “but know this, when you come agains Nightscale you are coming to meet your DOOM.  Awe and abasement or fear and fight are your only options little men, I look forward to our next meeting cowards!”

[OOC: Everyone flees, Erias takes 5 damage, save=9+1=10 success, 5 damage, save=13success
WE ARE OUT OF COMBAT, in 1st room]

Corrin: 21 (10 damage 17 HP left)
Riardon: 20 (10 damage 13 HP left )
Skamos: 14 (10 damage 10 HP left Bloodied)
Erias: 7 (21 damage 3 HP left bloodied)
Kathra: 6 (32 damage 1 HP left Bloodied)
Tira: 1 (13 damage 15 HP left bloodied)

Andorax -

“Well, then...do we try to clear some of the remaining hobgoblin and kobold filth from this place, or do we return to town and have a bit of a chat with those who sent us on a dead man’s quest?  I did not come here expecting to face a dragon, after all!”

As he says this, Erais walks amongst the rest of his companions, offering a soothing hand to help bind wounds and set bones out of place.

Healing Word to any and all who need it, as often as necessary (or we are allowed by circumstance) to restore the group to full health (within 2 hp of full).  Start with myself, then Kathra...then the rest in no particular order, save that those who are bloodied come first.  Then assess how many surges each of us, in turn, still have left.  Heal check to determine if anyone isn’t up to full health, and (if possible) if it is because they are out of surges for the day, or if they’re refusing the healing.

"We know that there remain a group of hobgoblins led by that caster that surprised us all when we first took on the hobgoblins and Meepo’s words suggest that there may be another group of kobolds out conducting a raid right now with some hobgoblins to force them into it.  Given what he left out about the dragon, however, I’m not sure I’d trust anything he told us.”

Lowering his voice to make sure it doesn’t carry any farther than needed to reach his fellows, Corrin continues, “The hobgoblins were smart enough not to press forward into us after we defeated the kobolds, but no doubt they heard the encounter with the dragon, even if they didn’t come to his aid.  I say we make some noise as if we were leaving to go give the villagers a piece of our mind and then camp out outside the den.  If the hobgoblins think they are safe they might come out and not in force, especially if they need supplies of some sort.  We might be able to ambush them outside.”

Riardon smiles and claps Corrin on the back. “That is a great idea, Corrin. I agree.” Then without waiting for his fellows, he moves towards the exit. He pauses for a moment without turning around and says softly, “Coming?”

Saying just loud enough for it to be heard, but not obvious that its on purpose, “This place does have a fowl smell...and I could use a good ale.”

OOC: Will use healing surges 2 times which should yield 2 x [1d6+12] which is more than enough. Note that twice could be enough if rolled well enough...my goal is to be within 2hp of max.

Almost a half an hour later, Erais has tended to the wounds of his comrades and they continue to discuss what to do next.  The occasional clinking of armor and muttering in a strange language is a constant reminder that they are not alone.

[OOC: Everyone is at full HPs except Erais(-1) and Kathra (-2)]

Moving outside of the entrance to the kobold/hobgoblin/dragon tunnel the party waits in ambush. Time passes, legs cramp, the sun starts to sink in the sky…

[OOC: 1 hour has passed.]

Knowing that luck sometimes comes to those that wait, Corrin fidgets a bit, leaning against a tree to take some of the pressure off his feet, but ultimately settles in to continue waiting.

As the party continues to wait outside the cave Riardon notices that the birds have suddenly gone quiet, as he tries to get the rest of the groups attention, the sounds of high-pitched laughter can be heard coming from behind them, in the distance, talking in a language they do not understand.

[The sources f the sounds are not upon you yet, you have 2 rnds worth of actions before they arrive.]

The raiding party returns...

Pushing himself off the tree he had been leaning against, Corrin checks the straps on his shield, draws his sword, and then tries to use said tree to hide his presence from the approaching voices without blocking his own view.

Riardon, trying to get his friends’ attention, throws a rock in the direction (but too far as to alert their foes) of the voices, hoping his comrades understand. Then he hunkered down and readied his attack.

Kathra positions herself without a word. She is ready to take out the first couple of uglies.

Erais waits patiently for what comes to pass, ready to act as needed, but for now just trying to follow the others’ advice for how to keep out of sight and quiet.

Tira draws her wand into her left hand, happy to have the chance at new targets outside of the dank cave.

[OOC: position is fine]

As the raiding party approaches and the heroes lie in wait Kartha’s shield hits on the rock she is hiding behind, ruining any chance of surprise the party could hope for.

The party hears weapons drawn as the hobgoblis shout in an alien language.

Finding himself far from the approaching hobgoblins now that the noise from Kathra’s shield has ruined their surprise, Corrin suddenly regrets his choice of position, even if the plan to pin their foes between them had been a good one.

Charging forward, Corrin engages the nearest hobgoblin.

[OOC: Move action: S, SW, SW.  Because of difficult terrain, that constitutes 5 squares of movement.

Standard action: Charge hobgoblin soldier 1.  That’s a move SW followed by an attack at +6 vs. AC, 1d6+2 damage on hit.

Minor action: Mark Warcaster with Divine Challenge.]
