I’ve overlooked this power until now…

I was looking through the SRD again attempting to tweak my telepath character when I took another look at energy stun.
I often overlooked it as its damage was lower then energy push or even energy ray and it required two failed saves for the stunning.
But then I noticed the augmentation.

“Augment: For every additional power point you spend, this power’s damage increases by one die (d6) and its save DC increases by 1.”

the DC increases for every PP not every two. I double checked both the book and SRD and its identical. +1PP=+1d6 and +1 DC.
Thats a fairly steep DC which makes the power a lot better then I thought at first glance.

At 13 Power Points, the damage would be 11d6 and the save DC 22 plus int mod. five points higher then a DC=+1/P.P

If you pick electricity as the energy type you can add another +2 to the DC.

That all adds up to a very high DC your enemies even considering they get it twice.
And even a single round of stunning on an enemy is a good thing.

EDIT: Dam complete psionic ruining that power. You know changes to powers in the EXPH should be in the SRD and errata.

I keep intending to start planing ahead but I keep putting it off.

I’m not at home, and I bought a bunch of 3.5 books recently, so I know I have EXPH, but I’m not sure about Complete Psionic . . . how did CP change the power?

They changed the DC to +1 per 2 P.P which follows the traditional pattern. So every 2d6 added to the damage translates to an extra +1 DC.

I keep intending to start planing ahead but I keep putting it off.

I played in a Psionic tournament using that power for precisely the reason stated above. It is definitely broken. At 10th level, using Overchannel and with a 22 Int (Pretty easy with levels and a headband) you can push the DC up to 10+6+11=DC27 (29 if electricity). At 20th you can push it up to DC40 (or DC42 electric) pretty easy.

I also checked the SRD and the errata and it didn’t change anything. It is pretty annoying that they changed it in the Complete: Psionic book. Not that it shouldn’t have been changed, but that really should be available in the errata without having to shell out another $30 for the correction. rasberry
