Based on the Razorbat King from the Monsternomicon 2. The Razorbat King is an exceptionally large bat, easily the size of a man. It has a long, whip like tail with razor sharp barbs that it employs in combat. See the Monsternomicon 2 for a full description.

Nice creature. Just remember, if you are going to license/sell/profit from it, you can’t use the page number in the reference wink

Yeah. Corporate greed at work here… Or not.
The reason they said not to use page numbers was that they don’t guarantee that the format of the books will stay the same. There might be more pages or less pages in future prints of the phb.

That’s got to be the stupidest thing I’ve seen in the GSL. How dare we make useful things.
The only logical reason I can come up with for that clause is that they are going to use page numbers as some sort of confirmation mechanism on their site. They’ve mentioned that if you own a book you will be able to access the rules online as well. Will this be how they do it?

That’s a complete BS move. Reeks of smoke and mirrors. Text books have revisions all the time. That’s why you should also reference a version or edition number.

To be honest, I don’t think WotC can legally enforce a “no page number” citation rule.  Citations would almost certainly be covered under fair use copyright laws.  Hell, I’d be surprised if they are even legally allowed to enforce the bit about how the title of the books is formated (small caps the first time, italics after that).  They can demand you cite them, but I don’t think they can specify how.

Of course I seriously doubt anyone is going to be willing to mount the expense necessary to challenge those provisions of the GSL.  It’s too stupid and petty to be worth going to court over.

Perhaps the only precept taught me by Grandfather Wills that I have honored all my adult life is that profanity and obscenity entitle people who don’t want unpleasant information to close their eyes and ears to you.

Donate rice by improving your vocabulary.

Because you don’t have anything better to do in January in Maine.

Perhaps not, but this is for licensed content, not a simple reference from anyone, anywhere. If I were a publisher I would avoid doing things to irritate WotC.
