Need help: I have not yet assigned magic items. I really should do that before the adventure tonight. Any advice?

I finally did it. I made my first level 1 adventure for my Iron Kingdoms game. The opening scene and some of the details are fairly particular to my group but I believe the full adventure could work well for just about anyone looking to run an Iron Kingdom’s game.

This adventure is for seven level 1 characters. It should take them to 2nd level or close by the time they finish the quest.

After a funeral for a friend is interrupted by one of the character’s cousin, the party embarks on a wild adventure to recover a mysterious antique clock. Multiple groups are after the device and the players will have to decide if and who to give it to. They will have to navigate the turbulent waters of the Black River swamplands as well as an equally dangerous dip into Llaelese politics.

It includes two new monsters. A translation of the King Razorbat from the MM2 and a Lvl 3 Solo - the Bog Constrictor. I had to translate several other monsters and critters, such as using goblins for the Anure and Kruthik for an attack of clockwork bugs.

If you have a 7 character party, assign something that is usable by one (or several) of the characters.
For 1st level characters you don’t need anything tricky. I would just aim to provide a +1 weapon/implement to every character in the group before 4th level. Better get started with that. Basic +1 level stuff can be a bit boring, but the players will like them more than something obscure that can be only used once a day. +1 armor is also pretty desirable by the party’s defenders, I would assume.

I would just look at the treasure parcels and add a +1 item or two, since the basic system is for less characters than you have.

Hey Rother. Thanks for the suggestion. By the rules, 7 players requires two extra parcels of magic items. One at level + 2 and another at level + 1. Works out really well.

I have updated my attachment with the magic items in place. smile
